The GTM Playbook Behind Warmly's Acquisition
Warmly ran pipeline, outreach, and lead scoring on autopilot for hundreds of startups — before a single sales hire.
HubSpot acquired them for it. Now the cofounders are walking you through the exact system, live, before they disappear into product. Join the Builder Session on August 12.
Leave with an agentic GTM stack you can replicate this week. Plus HubSpot Credits when you join HubSpot for Startups.
Two things are happening at once this week. Platforms are quietly rewriting the rules underneath your campaigns, and the tooling vendors are buying their way into the parts of the funnel they don't own yet. One has a hard deadline on your calendar. The other tells you where budget is heading next year.
Here's what actually matters.
Google Ads stops overshooting your targets on August 17
Starting August 17, Google is changing how target-based bid strategies behave across Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen and Travel campaigns — in Google Ads, Search Ads 360, and DV360. Instead of blowing past your target when it can, the system will aim much more tightly at the number you entered. Set a 400% ROAS target and you'll get roughly 400%, not the occasional 600% month.
Why it matters: if your targets were set loosely because you knew Google would overdeliver, they're about to become ceilings rather than floors. Anyone who inherited a target from a predecessor and never questioned it should audit those numbers this week, not on the 18th. Predictability is the trade — you'll get steadier performance and less headroom.
Klaviyo buys Agency, and Elias Torres lands as chief product officer
Klaviyo has agreed to acquire the team and technology of Agency, the AI-native customer success startup founded by Drift co-founder Elias Torres. Terms weren't disclosed; Agency had raised $32M from Sequoia, Menlo Ventures and Felicis. The deal is expected to close in Q3 2026, after which Torres becomes CPO and runs Klaviyo's agent product line, including Composer and Customer Agent, reporting to co-CEO Andrew Bialecki.
Why it matters: the reunion detail is fun — Torres hired Bialecki as one of his first engineers at Performable back before HubSpot bought it in 2011 — but the strategic read is that Klaviyo is buying agent talent rather than building it. Expect the "CRM plus autonomous agents" pitch to get louder across every vendor renewal conversation you have this fall.
6sense makes its GTM intelligence callable from any AI agent
6sense launched an MCP server on July 14, exposing account insights, predictive buying stages, 6QA status, keyword intent and ad campaign performance to any MCP-compatible agent — Claude, ChatGPT, Writer, Agentforce — with no custom integration. It arrives alongside AI-Recommended Leads, which shipped this month and routes a short list of high-confidence contacts per qualified account straight to a BDR, a rep, or 6sense's AI Email product.
Why it matters: intent data has always died in a dashboard nobody opened. Making it queryable by an agent your team already uses is a real distribution change, and it sets the pattern other GTM vendors will copy. If you pay for intent data, ask your rep when their MCP server ships.
The attribution stat worth stealing for your next board deck
Anteriad's 2026 B2B Marketing Edge report, run with Ascend2 across 631 marketing decision-makers in the US, UK and APAC, found that marketers who prioritize full-funnel attribution were nearly twice as likely to significantly exceed their primary goals: 45% versus 24%. Separately, 38% say they've fully implemented buying groups, and that cohort reports better sales alignment, higher win rates and stronger opportunity conversion.
Why it matters: three disciplines separate the top performers — data quality, buying group strategy, full-funnel attribution. None of them are a tool purchase. If you're going into planning season asking for headcount instead of another platform, this is the number to put on the slide.
Pipedrive brings its best marketplace app in-house
Pipedrive announced on August 5 that it's acquiring Outfunnel, the top-rated app on its own marketplace. Founded in 2018, Outfunnel syncs customer data in real time between CRMs and marketing tools like Mailchimp and Klaviyo, and serves more than 500 businesses. Terms weren't disclosed. Co-founder Andrus Purde, formerly Pipedrive's head of marketing, returns as a consultant.
Why it matters: CEO Paulo Cunha's framing — "a CRM that doesn't connect with your marketing tools is only solving half the problem" — is the whole trend in one sentence. When the integration layer gets absorbed into the platform, the SMB and mid-market buyer stops paying for two things. Worth watching if your stack depends on a connector vendor sitting between two systems.
Meta's Muse Image starts reaching advertisers
Meta introduced Muse Image, an image generation model out of Meta Superintelligence Labs, on July 7. It's rolling out to advertisers and agencies over the coming weeks for Advantage+ creative generation, with agentic reasoning and iterative refinement rather than one-shot output.
Why it matters: creative volume stops being the constraint, which means creative judgment becomes the bottleneck. The teams that win here will be the ones with a clear brief and a real testing framework, not the ones generating the most assets.
One action item today: go look at your target ROAS and target CPA numbers before the 17th. That's the one on a clock.
See you tomorrow.
